Phoenix Primary and Secondary School is committed to "making a difference where it matters" for children in Tower Hamlets aged between 2 – 16 years with language and communication difficulties, severe learning difficulties and those on the autism spectrum.

Head teacher, Stewart Harris, recognised the need to provide his pupils with both stimulating and challenging learning environments and exciting play facilities that he saw as fundamental to the delivery by his committed staff of a rich and stimulating curriculum at Phoenix School

To work with a design and build partner that would collaborate with a broad range of "best in class" organisations to develop and implement solutions that deliver the learning environments and playing facilities that would ensure Phoenix School could deliver on it promise to both parents and pupils to "make a difference where it matters".

In order "to make a difference where it matters", Stewart Harris has partnered with S&D, within the terms of the Tower Hamlets PFI contract, to implement a wide range of new learning and treatment facilities that would include: a new hydro therapy pool, a video and drama centre, a food technology centre and a new life skills centre.

In addition, new staff WC facilities, air conditioning, acoustic management, class room refurbishments and external works have been commissioned and implemented.

At Phoenix School, a 1950's listed inner city building, it has been possible to use all available internal and external space to create a broad range of rich and stimulating state of the art learning and play environments.

Every day they are "making a difference where it matters" for each pupil that attends school and for staff in their daily delivery of the rich and stimulating curriculum.

Many of these projects have been completed during term time in order to meet implementation deadlines. S&D continues to provide Phoenix School with both innovative and quality design and build services that enable me to focus on the delivery of our development and educational offer for our pupils, their parents and my staff.
